Resiliency Services is more known on the outside of IBM as Backup&Restore/Disaster&Recovery/Business Continuity Services. Wroclaw Resiliency Services CoE (Center of Excellence) Technical Team started shaping in the middle of 2016.

Our mission is to take care about Resiliency Services infrastructure which is used as part managed services solutions being delivered for our customers.Our team is divided on some main technology lines:

  • Storage, SAN (Storage Area Network)
  • Server - Wintel (Intel x86 architecture server operating systems and their components, virtualization layer)
  • Server - Unix (Unix server systems installed on Intel x86 and POWER architecture, along with its hypervisor layer)
  • Network
  • Backup & Restore platforms (like IBM Spectrum Protect aka IBM Tivoli Storage Manager)
Typical activities:
  • Maintaining infrastructure (applying new service packs, patches, upgrades, migrations etc.)
  • Daily administration (user/incident/change management creating/resolving)
  • Compliance (health checks etc. Ensuring that our servers are compliant according to ITCS104 rules)
  • DR tests (customers l-pars boarding, setup, running disaster & recovery tests, supporting customers during DRs - it can last 12h, 5 days in a row)
  • Analyzing and maintaining operating system log files
  • Recommending operating system updates and configuration modifications
  • Problems investigation
  • Cooperation with other technical and non-technical teams
  • Probably in the future providing 24/7 support – oncalls
Required:
  • Very good Linux skills (SLES, Redhat, Ubuntu), knowledge (including remote OS installation, updates/upgrades, configuration, patching, utilities, shell scripting, LVM & RAID configuration, networking, multipathing, monitoring, system logs, user management, diagnosing software & hardware issues)
  • Very good general IT skills (TCP/IP networks, bash, X86 or hardware platform/virtualization, ESXi)
  • Quick & flawless problem resolution under time pressure
  • 1 year of work experience on similar position
  • Readiness to develop new skills and qualifications
  • Good communication and team-working skills
Nice to have:
  • Redhat clusters experience knowledge
  • Skills in high availability cluster solutions, SAN (components & OS side configuration), virtualization solutions, knowledge of large scale UNIX systems management would be an advantage
  • VMware virtualization experience
  • AIX knowledge
